Cocao Protein Orbs

Protein packed, crunchy yet chewy, and lightly sweetened, these protein orbs are perfect for that on-the-go, life is too short to cook, sweet snack.  Have you ever had the misfortune of consuming a CLIF Builder’s Bar? Or a Luna Bar? I don’t know about you, but once I tried these for the first time, they were ALL I could ever think about.  Is there a gas station there? Maybe I will go in and grab just one!  Oh look – HEB! I can stock up with that 5 for $5 deal! Builder bars? Where? Oh my gosh it was incessant! It wasn’t until I realized how much money I was spending that I forced the addition to cease!

Consider re-reading the first sentence of this post.  If you think about it, I described the EXACT same qualities of a builder or luna bar, right?  To tell you the truth, it was not even until after I wrote the sentence that I realized I was using the same adjectives to describe those crack bars. Conceptually, they are the same. Except, there is one tiny, minuscule, difference: SUGAR. The sugar content in a builder or luna bar can be up to 20g! That explains why I was constantly seeking them out at every turn  Sure, they had 20g of protein, but the high sugar content is extraneous and is just a way to keep you coming back for more – like I was.

Hopefully, you make these and feel that sweet tooth immediately satiated. You can make them into little balls, or keep them as bars in an 8 x 8.  To be honest, the best part about them is they don’t keep you wanting more.  It does the job nature intended, and that is good enough for me. Enjoy!
