There are SO many health benefits of gelatin, especially for people with sensitive guts. I first hear about this powder a few years ago and have thanked the gods for it. The author of CrunchyMoose.com has listed the factual benefits, but the ones that I most care about are the digestive, weight loss, and reversal of allergies benefits that gelatin can provide for us. To name a few:
- Digestive Health: Gelatin promotes stomach acid production. And because gelatin is a binding agent, the stomach acids move from the stomach lining to the food that needs to be digested. The result is less gas, bloating, and constipation.
- Reverse Allergies: Food allergies and intolerances begin with a leaky gut. Gelatin helps heal leaky guts by strengthening gut linings.
- (Other benefits include: bone joint health, hair and nail growth, prevention of wrinkles, lots of protein, and weight loss).
To me, those first two tips were enough to make me want to drink gelatin by the glass. The idea of having something maintain/repair my intestine system, especially after a cheat day, that can possibly even reduce the effects of the pain from having said cheat day, sounds absolutely amazing.
Realistically, adding gelatin into your diet every day is very simple. For me, I sprinkle some in my smoothies, soups, and tea where I can’t even taste it. You can sprinkle it onto just about anything. The green one is what I use, found on amazon here
Not all brands can be trusted so I only use this one brand of gelatin – Great Lakes. It is from grass-fed, hormone free, pasture raised animals. Other brands use animals from factory farms, raised on GMO grains, antibiotics, and hormones.
How much should you take every day? The recommended dose is 4 TBS a day. It is up to you how much you would like to incorporate into your diet. For more information on the health benefits of gelatin and collagen, I recommend learning from this author. She really knows her stuff.
There you have it, intolerant friends. Let your gut breathe easy after repairing it with Gelatin!
