This is one of the Murphy Family’s traditional Italian meals. Being gluten and dairy intolerant considerably limits your ability to eat out at Italian restaurants. Obviously, the heavy breads, pastas, and cheese is usually the pillars of all the items on the menu. Of course, “gluten-free” probably doesn’t even cross their minds – as much as I wish it did.
Hence, pasta is always made at home, with the tendency to get boring with the regular old store-bought sauce. That is why this pasta meat sauce rocks. Without fail, it is always a crowd pleaser. The recipe is easy, short and simple. Someone who claims, “I can’t cook” can definitely have success with this one. In all seriousness, I can’t stand when people use that excuse. If you can read, you can cook. End of story.

Let me tell you about this parmesan cheese from Go Veggie! I have yet to find one that is better tasting. It is vegan, dairy free, and gluten-free. Three of my favorite things. Decently priced at Whole Foods where the other cheese resides, keep your eyes peeled for this once you go shopping again. You can also order it online from Amazon here.
The gluten-free pasta featured here is by Jovial.

Ingredients
- 1 lb of organic, grass-fed ground beef or turkey
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 tsp sea salt & ground pepper
- 2-3 TBSP italian seasoning
- 1 (16 oz) can of organic diced tomatoes
- 1 (16 oz) can of organic tomato sauce
- fresh sprigs of oregano and basil (optional to boost flavor)
- dairy free parmesan cheese to taste
- 1 box of Jovial gluten free pasta (this is the best tasting GF pasta I have found).
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the chopped onion and beef with a drizzle of olive oil. Stir occasionally until the onions are clear and meat is no longer pink.
- Add salt and pepper all around the pan. Add the 2-3 TBSP of italian seasoning here as well. Stir and sample meat. It should be very flavorful and quite strong. (I have found that when using turkey meat, quite a bit more seasoning is needed). Add more seasoning (italian seasoning, salt & pepper) if needed and keep taste testing along the way.
- Then add the cans of tomato sauce and diced tomatoes and let simmer for about 20 minutes or until flavors are melded together and the sauce has thickened.
